Step 1: Sign in to your Twitter account
Log into Twitter as you normally would with your valid username (or email address) and password. Nota bene: You may also do this with the Twitter app on your phone or tablet.
Step 2: Accessing Account Settings
Next, click More > Settings & privacy on the website or select Settings & privacy after tapping the profile icon in the app. Go to Account. The Account tab should open on the website by default, but you have to click the Account option in the app.
Step 3: Change your username
You will see the username option. Select it and type your desired username in the text field. It just needs to be 15 characters or less. If your first choice is not suitable, a message will appear asking you to choose another username.
Your new username can only contain alphanumeric characters and you should not use both the words “Twitter” and “Admin” unless you are using an official Twitter account. Step 1: Sign in to your Twitter account
As before, log in to Twitter with your username and password. Note: This can also be done in the app.
Step 2: Go to your profile
To access your profile, click on the portrait on the left side of the screen and then select Profile from the app. On the website, click Profile on the left side of the screen.
Then select Edit profile. It’s a big, hard-to-miss button at the top right of the screen.
Step 3: Change your Twitter display name
Enter the name you want – currently 50 characters or less – in the Name text field located just below your profile picture. Unlike your Twitter username, your display name doesn’t have to be specific to your account (John Smiths of the world, rejoice!) and can even contain emojis.
When you’re done, click Save on the right side of the page to save your new display name.
